ECF is working with hospitality group Merivale on a proposal to transform five heritage buildings in Sydney’s CBD into a world-class entertainment, dining, and hospitality precinct. Spanning 16,300sqm, the masterplan includes restaurants and bars, a night club, hotel accommodation and offices, all while preserving the heritage and architectural integrity of the buildings.
This includes maintaining their current heights and footprints with no significant demolition. This project is seen as a significant step in revitalising the area while respecting its heritage, offering a blend of old and new that will elevate Sydney’s cultural and economic landscape.
The project is expected to generate hundreds of jobs and enhance the city’s appeal, particularly by leveraging the area’s “Purple Flag” status, which requires the area to maintain international standards for vibrancy, safety, and accessibility.
Merivale’s proposal which is currently on public exhibition with the City of Sydney is also aligned with the state government’s goal of expanding Sydney’s hotel capacity and creating a thriving visitor economy. Community and stakeholder engagement has begun with support from ECF.
